Living standards have considerably increased in Russia. Dutch companies are able to play a role to further develop such standards. They see an increase in number of restaurants and high-level retailers, with an increased demand of fresh products, such as flowers, fruits, vegetables, milk and meat.
Remaining challenges include the improvement of the infrastructure and (agro)logistics around major cities, post-harvest and stocking facilities, and the marketing and promotion of local products.
There is a lot of knowledge in Dutch companies that is useful in the Russian market. This is the central theme of a feasibility study of Wageningen UR, to see how Dutch companies can be involved in the Russian ambition to improve the standard of living, in particularly in the main cities.
