Our research and projects aim to improve and share understanding of soil patterns and landscape dynamics. We take an integrative approach that combines biophysical and human elements to gain insight in past, present and future system dynamics, and to support sustainable land management.
The following elements may be distinguished in the research chain:
- developing quantitative methods for obtaining soil patterns at different scales, using expert knowledge, remote sensing, GIS, and geostatistics
- interpretation in space and time of soil patterns and corresponding soil properties at different scales
- interpretations in the context of land evaluation, focusing on soil and water quality and the sustainability of land utilization types
