MSc course registration as a WIMEK PhD

Registration for MSc courses as a PhD candidate requires a three-steps procedure:

Step 1: Send an email indicating which course you want to take

MSc course as part of your Qualifying Exam (QE)

If you have to take an MSc course as part of your Qualifying Exam (QE)*, please send an email to phd.services@wur.nl, indicating the code of the course, and that you want to register for it as part of your QE.

MSc course as part of your Training and Supervision Plan (TSP)

If you want to take an MSc course as part of your Training and Supervision Plan (TSP), please first discuss with your supervisor(s) which MSc courses you want to take. Make sure you (have) put them in your TSP (maximum of 2 MSc courses; or 12 ECTS). Also, discuss with your supervisor and then with the course coordinator of the course you want to take whether you need to take the whole course, or whether it is possible to do only part of it.

You can find the procedure in the Hora finita help files here: How to register for MSc courses? | Hora Finita: PhD candidates | Education Support (screenstepslive.com)

IMPORTANT: Do NOT make changes in your name on the form, as this may lead to errors in the system and delay in your registration. If your name is not correct on the form, please send an email to wimek@wur.nl and we will correct it in Hora Finita and send you a new form.

Note that for each separate academic year, you need to register. This means if you take a course in year 1, and want to take one in year 2, you need to re-register for the second year again, following the same procedure. Note that an academic year starts and ends half way each calendar year. So if you want to do a course in period one, make sure you have a registration form that states the academic year (in the format 202x-202x) of that period.

Step 2: Receive proof of enrolment

Within a couple of days you will receive your proof of enrolment from the Student Service Centre (SSC). If you did not receive your proof of enrolment within 6 working days, please contact ssc@wur.nl.

Step 3: Access to Brightspace

Once your proof of enrolment is processed by SSC you can obtain access to the Learning Management System Brightspace. It will take a day before you can take this last step.

PhD candidates at Wageningen University do not automatically get access to Brightspace. If you teach or take a course this access is strongly recommended. For entering Brightspace and more information look at: https://brightspace.wur.nl and https://wur-student.screenstepslive.com/m/86752.
