Health and Society
The group focuses on the sociological study of public health, health promotion and health protection, in resource poor and research rich contexts, with emphasis on (1) the social, natural and built environment, and (2) the role of actors and social institutions in advancing health and wellbeing.
Research
Our research group uses a holistic view to health, considering physical, social, mental and spiritual well-being. Health is created in everyday-life and arises from interaction between individual lifestyle, the social and physical environment.
Education
The Bachelor Health and Society (BGM) and the Master specialization Health and Society (MHS) at Wageningen University & Research offer the unique opportunity to study health issues both inside and outside the health care sector taking into account the interaction between lifestyle and the social and physical environment.
