An important development in modern societies in the past decades has been the transformation of traditional state-based governing mechanisms to new arrangements of governance. It has occurred in the private, the semi-private and the public sphere, and has involved all kind of actors and agencies (governmental and non-governmental) at all different levels (local, regional, national, transnational and global), in all different sectors (agriculture, environment, biotechnology, public health,leisure and tourism, etc.).
Wageningen University therefore offers different study programs, majors and minors, and separate courses giving students the opportunity to explore the topic indepth and gain knowledge and skills to work with confidence in this fascinating and rapidly expanding area of work.
The academics teaching in the different programs are leading (inter)national experts in the field. They bring their expertise and knowledge covering different topics (such as sustainable development, agriculture, rural areas, food quality, forest and nature conservation, and water management), different theoretical approaches, and different methodology, using examples of all over the world, which are leading edge in their coverage and content.
