The PhD programme at the university is coordinated by six graduate schools. Three of these schools are national graduate schools, consisting of research groups from several universities in the Netherlands.
The graduate schools work together under the umbrella organisation Wageningen Graduate Schools.
Graduate schools have three main tasks:
- To coordinate, develop and facilitate doctoral education and training;
- To stimulate and coordinate the development of a coherent research programme within the mission of the graduate school;
- To safeguard, monitor and stimulate the quality and progress of research by staff, postdocs and PhD candidates.
Regarding quality assurance, 2015 has been an important and productive year. In January 2015, the entire Wageningen PhD programme was reviewed by a team from the European University Association. Also the six graduate schools and the research groups within the schools were reviewed by six international peer review committees recently.
