Scholarship Information

The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) is a 5-year programme for mid-career professionals with at least 3 years of work experience aiming to advance the capacity, knowledge and quality of both individuals and institutions of higher and vocational education. The programme is organised by Nuffic and funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and offers individual scholarships, alumni activities, tailor-made trainings (TMT) for group and institutional partnerships between education institutions in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and higher education, in fields related to the priority themes of the Dutch government:

• Food and nutrition security
• Water
• Sexual and reproductive health and rights
• Security and the rule of law
• Energy and climate

Individual scholarship

An Orange Knowledge scholarship is a contribution towards your participation in one of our short courses, such as tuition fees, visa, travel, insurance etc. Please note that this is not a full coverage.

We like to point out that a limited number of scholarships is available, therefore, an application may not always lead to a positive result. The result of previous applications will not effect the application of coming applications. You can apply for several scholarships within the same application process but keep in mind that you can only apply for courses which do not overlap in time.

To be eligible for the Orange Knowledge Programme the applicant needs to meet the following criteria:

• The scholarship applicant works for one of the following types of national and/or local organisations: ministries, secondary or higher vocational or academic education institutions, universities, private sector, commissions or NGOs. The scholarship applicant may not work for a bilateral or multilateral organisation or a non-governmental organisation that is internationally active and is focused on representing social interests, such as development cooperation, nature and environmental protection, health or human rights.
• The scholarship applicant is a professional with at least 3 years of work experiences and at least a bachelor degree.
• The scholarship applicant holds the nationality of and is resident and working in one of the countries on the OKP Country list
• The scholarship application is in line with the Country Plan of Implementation or Country Focus for the country concerned.

To apply for the Orange Knowledge Programme, we will send you the OKP-registration letter after completion of your course registration. Be aware that the OKP-application process takes time and effort, and requires several documents:

• A copy of your passport (PDF). Make sure your passport is at least valid until 3 months after the application deadline. Upload this copy as your identification document;
• An employer statement (PDF). Use this example statement to check whether you filled in the format correctly;
• Check the requirements to see if you need to submit a government statement (PDF). For your information, the government statement is mainly obligated for government employees from a certain group of countries.

To apply for Orange Knowledge Programme, you need to submit your application in DELTA, Nuffic's registration system. We will send you the right link to the 'candidate registration form' at the start of each application period.

There are 3 application rounds for individual scholarships every year. These rounds usually open in February, May and September. The application round in September is only for short courses.

The MENA Scholarship Programme (MSP) offers scholarships to mid-career professionals with at least 3 years of work experiences and not older than 45 years old for short courses in the Netherlands. The programme is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The main aim of the MSP is to contribute to democratic transition in the selected countries. It also aims at building capacity within organisations in the region, by enabling employees to take part in short courses in the Netherlands. While the scholarship is awarded to individuals, the need for training must be demonstrated in the context of the organisation the applicant is employed by. The training must help the organisation develop its capacity. A candidate for the MSP, must therefore be nominated by an employer to participate in the programme.

To be eligible for the MENA Scholarship Programme the applicant needs to meet the following criteria:

• The scholarship applicant works for one of the following types of national and/or local organisations: ministries, secondary or higher vocational or academic education institutions, universities, private sector, commissions or NGOs. The scholarship applicant may not work for a bilateral or multilateral organisation or a non-governmental organisation that is internationally active and is focused on representing social interests, such as development cooperation, nature and environmental protection, health or human rights.
• The scholarship applicant is a professional with at least 3 years of work experiences and at least a bachelor degree.
• The scholarship applicant holds the nationality of and is resident and working in one of these countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Syria*, Tunisia. (MSP is currently not open to professionals applying from Syria. Applicants with Syrian nationality may apply if they are residing in one of the other MSP countries)
• The scholarship applicant is not older than 45 years.

To apply for the MENA Scholarship Programme, we will send you the MSP-registration letter after your completion of your course registration. Be aware that the MSP-application proces takes time and effort, and requires several documents:

The aim of the Leniger Bruin Kühn Fund is to promote excellent education, innovative research, and support to students and professionals in food technology and food safety at Wageningen University & Research with a special focus on Latin America.

Applicants must be:

• Nationals of a Spanish speaking country in Latin America

• Be academically admitted to the course by WCDI

• Be employed by an organization in Latin America which supports the participation of the candidate in the course

• Submit a completed application form and submit the requested documents.

The scholarships will be awarded to candidates who are not able to finance their participation in the course or get it financed by their employer. Please include an explanation in your motivation letter and the support letter of the employer. Candidates will also be selected based on the added value of the course for their career and for their organisation and country.

The fund provides a limited number of scholarships to mid-level professionals from Latin America for the courses of the Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation:

Applications will be reviewed both by the WCDI and the Leniger Bruin Kühn Fund before the start of the course.

The programme provides Professional Development Grants (PDG's) to support mid-career conservationists from Asia, Africa and Latin America to pursue short-term, non-degree to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation has no contact with The Russel E. Train Professional Development Grants. If you wish to apply for this grant, you have to reach out to WWF on own initiative. If you apply for one of our short courses with the Russel E. Train Professional Development Grants programme, please mention you have a confirmed sponsor in your course registration form (Step 3, Financial Arrangements). Otherwise, your course registration will not be taken into consideration.

Note: WWF has changed their guidelines in the light of COVID-19. Grants will only be granted for online courses. Wageningen Centre for Development Innovation can currently not provide admission letters for a WWF grant unless we have confirmed online short courses. As soon as new information is available it will be published on the website.
