Tailor-made training for The Rockefeller Foundation

A five day tailor-made training for senior staff of the Rockefeller Foundation and other representatives of international philanthropic institutions took place from 24 till 28 June 2019. The training was developed by Wageningen Academy together with the University Fund Wageningen.

Programme and topics

The five day training combined the latest research highlights, research in practise, off-campus excursions and applied case studies to help the Rockefeller Foundation and its partners continue their evidence-based work to advance more nourishing and sustainable food systems. The following topics where highlighted during the training:

  • The power of plants
  • Sustainable nutrition
  • Field visits Flevoland
  • Healthy planet
  • Sustainable food systems

Experiences

The twenty participants considered the training intense, but varied and rewarding. As Sara Farley stated on twitter: "Incredible time at the 'Summer School' in The Netherlands with my new Rockefeller team exploring nutrition science, emerging food innovation and cutting edge research to drive the implementation of our brand new strategy.
According to Miel Hooijdonk, programme manager "it was rewarding to share the Wageningen University & Research expertise with such a knowledgeable and passionate group of professionals from Africa, USA and Europe."
