Study programme of MSc Management Economics and Consumer Studies
During the master's Management, Economics and Consumer Studies you will learn about the business-, economical and sociological processes that concern consumers, facility management, agribusiness and/or food supply. Read the full programme or compare this master's to other programmes.
This master's is the only study programme to offer a combination of economics with nature and environment, sustainable development, management and policy, living environment and logistics. Compare this study programme with similar programmes from Wageningen University & Research and other universities.
The content and organisation of the MME specialisations is currently under review, the updated descriptions will start to become available during October 2021.
The programme consists of five separate specialisations: Business Studies, Consumer Studies, Data Science for Healthy and Sustainable Consumption, Economics & Governance and Management in Life Sciences. When you apply for the programme, you immediately apply for one of the five, based on your previous academic career. Although the specialisations share a common part, each stands on its own and has different curricular requirements.
With a BSc in the social sciences you can choose:
Delve into the theories and concepts related to business and management of various business chains, with specific attention for the agri-food chain. In this specialisation we focus on the processes involved in, for example, decision science, logistics and marketing
Through a combination of psychological, sociological and economic lenses, we analyse the consumer as individual and as part of a group. You will learn to discern the factors that determine consumption patterns and behaviour.
Data Science for Healthy and Sustainable Consumption
The specialisation aims at combining Consumer Science with the upcoming domain of Data Science. You are able to conduct data-driven research on healthy and sustainable consumption.
Economics and Governance
Focusing on the multitude of stakeholders involved in today's complex problems, this specialisation takes an economic and/or governance approach to issues related to agri-food, environment and global development.

Depending on the specialisation graduates of the master's Management, Economics and Consumer Studies have several career opportunities.
