The MSc programme prepares you for a career in one of the following five areas of professional practice:
Landscape Architecture (specialisation Landscape Architecture only)
Creative designers work in the public and private sectors as architects or managers of the constructed landscape.
Landscape architects design site and master plans for large-scale outdoor spaces, parks, recreation and activity areas, as well as elegant gardens and urban places of high aesthetic quality. They also manage landscapes of diverse scales and restore and conserve historical and cultural landscapes. Landscape architects operate in both urban and rural contexts and develop safe, sustainable and multifunctional landscape solutions.
As experts on managing spatial projects, project managers focus on the development of open-ended process plans for
long-term and large-scale public and private projects. They develop, guide and implement integrated projects in the field of local, regional, national and supra-national innovation.
Strategic Policy Planning
As spatial policy experts, strategic policy planners develop spatial planning concepts and strategies for public
administrations or non-governmental organisations. Their knowledge also relates to the public sector for improving policies and legal frameworks for effective spatial planning, control and management of land use, space, landscape and environment.
Advising and Consulting
Spatial advisers or consultants mostly work for private companies as experts in specific spatial domains. They also operate as process facilitators, using their skills in participatory, interactive knowledge management and decision-making to create innovative plans
As academics, scholars, writers or social and professional critics and analysts specialised in landscape research,
researchers focus on a broad field of study. For example, they study the interaction between landscape and society or examine the relations between land use policies. Landscape researchers also investigate the theory, aesthetics and history of landscape architecture.
