Business Management and Organisation

Besides the environmental standards on emissions to air, water and soil, regional authorities, municipalities and other private group expand their company-oriented demands to the continuous improvement of environmental performance and to sustainability. Whatever type of demand is posed on a company, a company has to respond, in one way or the other, to such a demand. Within this thesis track you will use the managerial approach to analyse these kind of situations.

More about this thesis track

A Business Management and Organisation (BMO) thesis within the Urban Environmental Management programme can focus on one of three domains:

  • Decision-making processes within companies;
  • Organizational design and implementation of environmental care within companies;
  • Accountability of the company towards stakeholders in its task environment.

From a managerial perspective the attention is drawn to one of these three domains. The managerial approach can be from an organizational point of view, from a business economics point of view, a logistical point of view or from the perspective of information flows and reporting.

Depending on the specific subject of the thesis, the supervisor and co-supervisor will be chosen by the thesis coordinator and the thesis student. If the specific subject involves aspects which are beyond the fields of attention of the department of Business Management and Organisation, a co-supervisor of another relevant department will be asked to participate.
