Impact Evaluation

A cross-cutting issue is the evaluation of the impact of external interventions. Our main approach is quantitative: we use RCTs, regression discontinuity models, IV regression, propensity score matching and diff-in-diff techniques to gauge the impact of projects, (natural) shocks, or policies.

We often apply these methods in the context of integrated research programs, and collaborate with specialists in qualitative research methods.  It is our experience that such a 'mixed methods approach' produces synergies – the different approaches can strengthen and complement each other.
