About the Innovation Lab
Startup businesses with promising biobased concepts can benefit from the Innovation Lab Biobased Products Wageningen (iLAB Wageningen). Here your ideas can be translated into actual biobased products and/or be (further) developed as technologies. iLAB is located on the Wageningen UR campus.
Wageningen University & Research offers startups essential facilities: a work space as well as the use of specific equipment, laboratory space and expertise in a wide range of conversion technologies. In addition, we collaborate with our partner StartLife an organisation that supports new businesses with financing, consulting, coaching and issues related to operational management.
Top Sector Chemistry
The concept of starting the Innovation Labs in the chemistry field had its origins in the Dutch government’s ‘top sector’ programme and is based on the notion that there are major opportunities in linking promising new businesses with knowledge institutes such as Wageningen UR. An important milestone was reached in April 2014 when Top Sector Chemistry awarded the iLAB status to Wageningen UR Food & Biobased Research. The opportunities offered to new businesses by iLAB Wageningen will provide a considerable stimulus to the Biobased Economy.
Frontrunner
iLAB Wageningen is an initiative of Wageningen UR Food & Biobased Research and StartLife. Wageningen UR Food & Biobased Research is a frontrunner in knowledge development in the Biobased Economy sector. It develops the expertise and technologies required to create strong, low-cost and sustainable biobased materials. In addition to working with biobased materials, we are also involved in biobased chemicals and key technologies in the field of biorefinery.
