Profile

The economics and policies of these issues are discussed, but also different economic instruments that are often used to formulate relevant policies such as taxes, subsidies, quotas, tradable permit systems etc. Provision of public goods and the role of the government therein are also important elements.

This BSc minor is interesting for all students who want to broaden their knowledge on economics processes and economic policies. Students with a BSc major in more technically or beta oriented programmes who choose this minor programme are better geared for a future career in policy or at policy oriented organisations.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this minor students are expected to be able to:

  • apply economic principles to the analysis of political decision-making with respect to food, environment and rural areas;
  • understand and apply different economic instruments to meet policy goals;
  • understand public and political debates on policy issues;
  • identify the national and international impacts that different economic instruments have on different stakeholders.
