Introduction

My name is Selma, I am 22 years old and currently doing my masters in Food Technology. For my final internship I am going to Uganda for 6 months, to work for the Yoba for Life Foundation.

This is a non-profit organisation that stimulates public health through probiotic yoghurt and economic development through the exploitation of employment in Africa. To achieve this, a probiotic starter culture (Lactobacillus rhammosus yoba) is distributed in Africa. With these starter cultures, the people can make their own probiotic yoghurt. This yoghurt helps to maintain a healthy intestinal flora and reduces diarrhea. In a lot of developing countries, diarrhea is still an important cause of death, especially among young children.

For the following months you can read all my stories here.
