First days in Prague
The time has come, after a year and a half, to finish the second half of my Double Degree programme and leave Wageningen. Pack all of my memories and 18 months of life into a couple of suitcases and let’s go. It is quite convenient to travel from the Netherlands by car to my final destination. It takes around 10 hours, if you include a couple of coffee-breaks. So, here I am – back in the City of a Hundred Spires, in the Mother of Cities, in the heart of Europe – in Prague, Czech Republic.
A few days after my arrival, I got the nicest late-Christmas present ever. Six friends that I met on their Erasmus in Wageningen, came to Prague to celebrate the New Years Eve in here with me. We were a pretty multinational group – two Finnish, two Italian and two German. Not all of them have visited Prague before and so we went to visit the city’s dominant – the Prague Castle. The Prague Castle is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest ancient castle worldwide and the cathedral, which ultimately catches your eye, when you look at the castle, was founded in 1344.
As the castle stands on a hill on one side of the Vltava River that goes through Prague, there is an amazing view on the city from the Castles’ walls. On the picture, you can see the view towards the center of Prague. The taller building with the golden decorations on the roof that stands just in front of the bridge is the National Theatre, where the classical pieces are still performed.
