PhD Student, Promovendus

I am a PhD candidate at the Environmental Policy Group. My PhD project focuses on the interplay between environmental and development dimensions that take place in geographic peripheral areas, taking as a case study Northern Patagonia (Chile). I analyze environmental and development discourses, with an emphasis on nature-based touring practices, salmon aquaculture and nature conservation.

I have a background in ecological and environmental sciences (BSc in Biology and MSc in Ecology both from University of Chile, and MSc in Environmental Management, Kiel University, Germany).

Prior my PhD I was involved in several research and consultancy projects, whereby I gained research experience in conceptual and ecosystem modeling, as well as in ecosystem services assessment and modeling. From 2005 to 2010, and from 2014 to 2015, I worked associated to research teams at the Faculty of Sciences and at the Faculty of Economics and Business, both at the University of Chile. In 2014, my colleagues and I developed the report of the state of the art of ecosystem services research in Chile for the Ministry of Environment.
