Daniel Wiegant is a Human Geographer and obtained his Research MSc. in Sustainable Development at Utrecht University (2011, cum laude) and Advanced Master in International Development (AMID) at the Radboud University, Nijmegen. He worked as a policy officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Landscape Governance Advisor at the Horn of Africa Regional Environment Centre & Network in Addis Ababa. His PhD project focuses on reconciling global landscape restoration targets with local livelihoods in the Ecuadorian and Ethiopian highlands, and the role that local authorities play in this process.
Daniel's research interests include forest landscape restoration in mountain contexts, watershed management, rural livelihood strategies, and adaptive and collaborative governance arrangements in a multi-stakeholder setting.
