I have been fascinated by everything that lives throughout my life, this led me to study Biology at Wageningen University. During my MSc I specialised in Evolutionary Biology of tropical plants as well as riverine seed dispersal in tropical systems.

Tropical systems are complex and diverse and the tropical forest plays a major role in our climate. During my PhD thesis I aim to study the effect rising CO2 and a changing climate on canopy tree growth. For this I will use data from tree-rings, wood anatomy, stable isotopes and isotopomers in the species Toona ciliata, a long-lived tropical pioneer tree which is present in tropical forests throughout Asia and Australia.
