Projects - dr. AP (Ad) Koets

Tuberculosis (TB) is the deadliest infectious disease in the world. About 1 million people die from this disease annually, and an average of 1 out of 3 people are carriers of this bacterium. In the Netherlands, this diseasehas been under control for decades, which is why we hardly consider
it a problem. But: TBs resistance to antibiotics is increasing, and in a number of countries almost no effective medicine is available. If we actually lose this line of defence, the whole world will have a problem, including the Netherlands. This is why I think its time for a new approach in the fight against TB. With this project, I am taking part in the Fundamental Change campaign of Wageningen University and Research.
