I completed my bachelor's studies in Biology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. In 2019 I received an MSc. in Biotechnology at Wageningen University with a specialization in Food Biotechnology. After my studies, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Laboratory of Microbiology at Wageningen University for five months. Currently, I am enrolled as a PhD candidate at the Laboratory of Microbiology. My research endeavors revolve around the topic of gut microbiota. At the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, I was part of a project that aimed to characterize presumptive probiotic strains from snails. During my master's studies, I completed a major thesis on the effect of GOS on the microbiota of young adults and elderly and a minor thesis on technical aspects affecting the mucosal microbiota composition in colorectal cancer patients and healthy controls. In my PhD I am working on a toolbox to explore the optimal interactions between human milk sugars and the infant gut microbiota.
