Educated as an architect and urbanist (Universidade de São Paulo, Brazil, 1995) and as a landscape architect (University of Guelph, Canada, 2004), in 2014 I received my PhD in landscape architecture from the University of Oregon (USA). I have practiced design independently, and collaborated with other architects in a broad range of architectural and landscape projects. I have taught landscape architecture and architecture studios for over 16 years before joining Wageningen University and Research in 2020. My main research focus relies on landscape change and urbanization effects on biodiversity and wildlife populations. My particular concern is on planning and design of urban open spaces in order to produce both ecological and social sustainability and contribute to the ecological functioning.
