I (Igor) Sirnik PhD MSc

Igor Sirnik is a postdoc researcher in the Landscape and Architecture and Spatial Planning group at Wageningen University & Research. He holds a PhD title of "Geography" and "Water and environmental engineering". The research was assessing climate change impact on viticulture and creating adaptation strategies for the future. He has been working on several research projects at LETG-Rennes laboratory at University Rennes 2 (France), Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) and University of Veracruz (Mexico). The work involved collaboration with researchers from various international research groups involved in several scientific disciplines such as landscape architecture, environmental sciences, climatology, agronomy, and geomatics.

He is passionate about the challenge of adapting of environment to climate change, committed to create adaptation and mitigation strategies using (1) spatial-temporal analysis, (2) irrigation and climate modeling and (3) GIS tools. His core research interests involve spatial analysis and development of solar parks in a sustainable way, with an eye for landscape and spatial quality, governance, biodiversity and the integration of food production.
