Ina Möller is assistant professor for climate politics at the Environmental Policy Group of Wageningen University. Her principal focus is how climate intervention technologies are becoming part of contemporary policy making, both in the form of carbon dioxide removal ('negative emissions technologies') and solar radiation modification ('solar geoengineering'). Her main interest lies in studying the interaction between science, policy and society, and in how concepts and decisions about the future are shaped through networks of experts.
Möller is a member of the Climate Social Science Network and the Earth System Governance project, where she is involved with working groups on the politics of geoengineering, net-zero, agriculture, and carbon dioxide removal. She received her PhD in Political Science from Lund University in Sweden, with a thesis entitled 'The Emergent Politics of Geoengineering'. Her work has been published with leading journals and publishers, including Global Environmental Politics, Global Environmental Change, and Cambridge University Press.
In 2023, Möller received a Veni grant from the Dutch Research Council NWO to study the effects of carbon removal incentives on the behaviour of large agricultural emitters. Her project on 'mitigation deterrence through greenhouse gas removal in the European food and land-use system' begins in January 2024. In addition to studying the behaviour of corporations, she is working together with soil scientists at Wageningen University to better understand the science-policy interface of soil-based carbon dioxide removal.
