Dr. ir. Trudy Voortman is a nutrition scientist and epidemiologist. Her group's research focuses on how nutrition affects health in different phases of the lifecourse, with studies embedded in several large population-based cohorts. Trudy has a shared position at the Division of Human Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University and at the Department of Epidemiology at Erasmus MC Rotterdam.
Trudy obtained a BSc and MSc in Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University and an MSc and PhD in Epidemiology at the Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences and Erasmus University. Previously, she worked at Unilever Research & Development, at Nestle Research Center Lausanne, at UC Berkeley, and at Harvard School of Public Health.
Dr. Voortman has published over 100 international scientific papers and book chapters and she has supervised 8 PhD students. She is an active member of the American Society for Nutrition and the Dutch Academy for Nutrition Sciences, and she organizes the yearly Dutch Nutritional Science Days.
