I am a marine biologist specialising in elasmobranch biology & behaviour and a PhD candidate at the Aquaculture and Fisheries Group (AFI). My research focuses on the spatial distribution and migration patterns of elasmobranchs in the North Sea using ‘pop-off’ data storage tags (pDSTs). These types of tags record temperature, salinity and depth data which can be used to reconstruct migration patterns and identify the importance of the Dutch coast. Another part of my research focuses on population structure. This uses genetic data in corroboration with migration data to give insights into population abundance and connectivity.
