Pamela is a PhD candidate at the Environmental Policy Group. Her PhD project focuses on the interplay between environmental and development dimensions that take place in geographic peripheral areas, taking as a study area Northern Patagonia (Chile). Environmental and development discourses, nature-based touring practices and salmon aquaculture are the main research topics.

Pamela has a background in ecological and environmental sciences (BSc in Biology and MSc in Ecology both from University of Chile, and MSc in Environmental Management, Kiel University, Germany).

Prior her PhD she was involved in several research and consultancy projects, whereby she gained research experience in conceptual and ecosystem modeling, as well as in ecosystem services assessment and modeling. From 2005 to 2010, and from 2014 to 2015, she worked associated to research teams at the Faculty of Sciences and at the Faculty of Economics and Business, both at the University of Chile. In 2014, she and her colleagues developed the report of the state of the art of ecosystem services research in Chile for the Ministry of Environment.
