Anton studied Chemistry at Utrecht University and obtained his masters degree in Medicinal Chemistry cum laude in 2005. After an employment at the pharmaceutical company Altana Pharma he started his PhD-research at Utrecht University in the group of Medicinal Chemistry and Chemical Biology headed by prof. dr. Rob Liskamp. In 2010 he obtained his PhD degree and started as a postdoctoral fellow at the Netherlands Cancer Institute-Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (NKI-AvL) in the group of dr. Fijs van Leeuwen at the departments of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. In 2011 he moved to the Leiden University Medical Center to work as a postdoctoral fellow in the Interventional Molecular Imaging group at the department of Radiology. His main research areas are organic and peptide synthesis, biochemistry (e.g. microscopy and flow cytometry) and fluorescence spectroscopy. Since 2015 he is a full time researcher in the BioNT group.
