My work revolves around alternative economic thought and practice, particularly in relation to food and agriculture. I am interested in food provisioning practices that are not only more environmentally friendly, but that also create distinctive socio-economic relations geared towards wellbeing of more-than-human communities, care and solidarity. In my PhD, I used the diverse economies framework to explore how urban gardens work as sources of food and alternative economic spaces. I currently contribute to CULTIVATE and EFUA, two research projects concerned with urban food provisioning and the role of food sharing and urban agriculture.
My research is geographically situated in Europe, with a particular focus on the dynamics between the European West and East. My work on Czechia and the broader region of Central and Eastern Europe builds on critical readings of postsocialism and a theoretical interest in how ideas travel across different social and geopolitical contexts.
I am a member of the Community Economies Research Network and the Dutch degrowth platform Ontgroei. I enjoy gardening and writing popularization articles.
