Md. Latiful Haque is a PhD candidate at Environmental Policy Group. His PhD project is about Effective Policy and Strategies to Transform the Food System Towards Healthier Diets. He focuses on urban poor consumers' food safety concerns about market-sourced food. His research extends to understanding the shopping practice of the slum dwellers and how they deal with the concern in light of urban lifestyle and rural-urban migration. Finally, the study will consult Bangladeshi policy strategies and instruments on food safety with the current consumers' food shopping and retailers' vending practice. 


Latiful holds MSc in Economics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He developed his interest in research on food policy while working as a Research Analyst at International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). Before the ongoing PhD on Consumption Sociology, he worked for over 9 years in three national and international research organizations in Bangladesh.
