What are next generation governance arrangements for sustainable global value chains?
Next generation generation governance arrangements are labeling and certification systems that provide smart responses to pressing calls of proving ecological and socio-economic sustainability. Moreover, they are capable of mastering transparency demands and traceability challenges. Next to that, a next generation arrangement is well-suited to deal with the (re-) emerging role of public authorities in governing production, trade and consumption of global agro-food commodities. In this research program, scholars from three chair groups work together with twelve international consortium partners, all sharing the ambition of gaining in-depth knowlegde on ways to move the governance of global value chains up to the next level.
