Socio-technical decision support systems for sustainable and healthy food choices in online shopping
July 2, 2023 - Project - Interventions that provide personalized feedback on intended purchases seem promising, but it is unclear how to optimally design and implement personalized feedback for the healthier and more sustainable food choices. In this project, we combine social and technical knowledge to understand how to best develop and implement a personalized decision support approach for healthy and sustainable choices which is expected to be more effective in improving the healthiness and sustainability of consumer food choices than a one-size fits all approach. -

Stunning captured wild sea fish for better animal welfare
November 9, 2021 - Project - Due to societal developments, it is important that the fishing industry focuses on sustainable, socially acceptable and valued products and production methods. Attention to animal welfare also fits in with these developments. Injuries caused by killing and processing captured fish on board commercial fishing vessels can be minimised by stunning the animals, rendering them unconscious, prior to killing and processing. -

Emotions, situations and sustainable consumption
July 2, 2023 - Project - We investigate why effects of emotions on sustainable consumption depend on situations. More specifically, we look at consumers’ choices to be in certain situations and how this choice influences the way emotions steer consumption. We separate three (sub)projects: 1) how people perceive situations, 2) how consumers choose consumption situations when experiencing emotions, 3) how the choice to be in certain consumption situations impacts subsequent consumption choices, through a change in experienced emotions.
