Transformative Climate Adaption for Healthy Rural Areas (PhD project - Dore Engbersen)
May 2, 2023 - Project - My research focuses on how citizen participation can enable climate adaptation that contributes to establishing healthy rural areas in the Netherlands. Specifically, I will focus on reducing the root causes of vulnerabilities to climate change. This requires the inclusion of vulnerable groups in decision-making. However, it is challenging for governments to achieve inclusion in transformative and participatory processes. Ultimately, my research will contribute to the meaningful participation of people that are usually not involved in the decision-making processes of transformative changes. -

Pride and Prejudice
January 28, 2020 - Project - Physical activity and diet are two key factors for a healthy lifestyle. Both are not only difficult to modify for people on the long-term difficult, they are also difficult to measure. The novelty of this program lies in combining the monitoring in real-life through sensors (food intake, physical activity and health parameters) with development of design interventions at different levels of the system (person, group, society), and evaluation of the (long-term) effectiveness of these combined interventions. -

Safe Seaweed by Design
April 16, 2021 - Project - Safe Seaweed by Design develops protocols to support the seaweed sector in monitoring and assessing safety. We conduct a pilot in Norway to test and revise the protocols and evaluate how monitoring and data sharing can reduce risks. To create the desired impact, we collaborate with European, Chinese and US seaweed producers and the Safe Seaweed Coalition. -
