Social methodological underpinning of the ENP research program

The methodological approach taken by ENP researchers is diverse, reflecting the wide range of topics and problems addressed. Overall the ENP research program is underlined by three core methodological qualities:

1.     Multi- and interdisciplinary research - combining the social research approaches of ENP with natural science approaches of other chair groups to understand environmental change; especially in the context of major research programs like PROVIDE, RESCOPAR and BESTTuna.

2.     Combined application of quantitative and qualitative research methods  - is preferred over an exclusive focus on either one of them.

3.     Global reach both in content and geography - innovative solutions have to be found in the area of transnational, comparative research methodologies, resulting in new questions to be answered.
