Sleeping giant

This week I had a visitor from Wageningen in Thunder Bay and we explored the area! There is the famous sleeping giant provincial park. It has this name, because the land mass that sticks into the Great Lake Superior has the shape of a sleeping giant on his back.

The legend goes that this giant lay down on the silver mine to protect it and turned into stone, so that no one could touch and destroy the area for the silver. Now it is a provincial park with many trails and camping spots. We chose for a steep, but beautiful trail to the famous sleeping giant look-out. The view over Lake Superior and Thunder Bay pays for steep climb and it was for sure worth it.
