Language Guideline

Wageningen University & Research (WUR) is an international university where more than 100 languages are represented. Effective communication in both English and Dutch is vital for us to understand each other on campus, collaborate well together and to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and safe at work. This is why WUR has drawn up a set of guidelines for language use. In this context the university is also offering courses in English and Dutch for its staff. You can attend these courses free of charge with permission from your manager. The university also believes that integration is important, especially because it wants to make sure to retain its talented individuals. For this reason, partners of expats are also eligible for a free Dutch course.

What do you need to do to take a free English or Dutch course?

  1. Ask your manager for permission first
WUR employees and their partners are entitled to follow a course that falls under the Language Policy free of charge. Free of charge means that the costs are borne by the department/Sciences Group where the employee works. This has been agreed with the general directors of the Sciences Groups. 3. Register
If you have permission to take a course and know what your language level is, you can use this website to register for a course in English or Dutch.

If course participants run into problems or are turned down, they can contact their HR department. If there are any remaining questions, the departments can contact their own management department.
