Area of interest
Antonios Stamoulis is fascinated by sustainable management of marine fisheries and the accompanying science-based policy. His particular interest is in the intersection of natural and social sciences with fisheries management. As a natural expression of this interest, Antonios follows the evolution of the EU policies (CFP, MSFD) that relate to fisheries.
Antonios’ doctoral research is focused on indicators that support management of marine fisheries in a balanced way. Such indicators provide the interface between ecology, society and policy. His main aim is to produce a list of indicators that could be applicable in EU waters for reaching good environmental status. His PhD study is a collaborative project between AFI and the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research (ILVO) in Ostend, Belgium.
Antonios, originally trained as a technologist in fisheries and aquaculture, has a Master of Science degree in ecological and marine management. Prior to his doctoral studies, he was involved in a number of research projects.
