Expected results and outcomes

With this program the collaborating institutions will contribute to scientific advancement and develop insights and tools to enhance the quality of life in rural areas.

FOREFRONT will develop tools that support the evaluation and operationalization of the dynamic relationship between people and nature and enhance development-oriented capacity, both in partner countries and in Wageningen. This includes trait-based approaches and landscape modelling to predict land use change impacts on ecosystem services at different spatial and temporal scales, social-environmental board-games and agent-based models, and other tools aimed at participatory design and land use planning.

It will result in the joint supervision of 11 PhD theses and several MSc theses and internships by WUR, UFV (Brazil) and IIES and ECOSUR (Mexico).
