Food from the sea

70% of the earth is covered with water. Currently, only 17 percent of our food comes from fishing, seaweed, fish and shellfish farming. In the sea and in fresh waters, there still are great opportunities for increasing blue protein production. This is also necessary to ensure a growing world population of nutrition. Wageningen Marine Research cooperates with governments, the business community and civil society organisations on sustainably produced food from the sea.
