Become a tutor

Do you like working with (fellow) students, are you interested in supporting them in their personal development and facilitating their learning process in skills education? At ELS we are always looking for enthusiastic students who would like to assist during one or more of our Presentation Skills or Argumentation Skills courses.

Presentation skills are taught in many different Bachelor/ Master programmes at WUR. In 3 to 4 few sessions we teach students how to become an effective presenter. To develop their presenting skills, students deliver short presentations in small groups of 8 students.

Your role as a tutor

Time investment

A course is generally 3 sessions – mornings or afternoons. We ask you to be present during all 3 sessions. During session 2 and 3 you will have an active role as a tutor. Afterwards, you will grade students’ presentations and reflection papers (it will take you about 0,5 hours per presentation/paper).

Compensation

Next to the fact that tutoring at ELS is all about supporting your own development, you will be compensated €6,25 per hour. If you’d rather receive ECTS instead of money, please sign up for the course ELS-52306 Teaching and Training Skills and develop your teaching and training skills while learning on the job as a tutor.

Info meetings

To get familiar with all the ins and outs of tutoring, we will plan info meetings for you to attend. Next to that, you will have access to an online course page via Brightspace. The info meetings are mandatory if its your first time tutoring in our courses. You get a one hour compensation for each info meeting.

Interested? That’s great!
