Arthur Mol is Rector Magnificus and Vice-President of Wageningen University & Research since 2015. He was trained in environmental sciences (MSc) and sociology (PhD).
Up till 2015 he was chair and professor in Environmental Policy at Wageningen University & Research. From 2009 to 2014 he was also director of the Wageningen School of Social Sciences and member of the Academic Board. His core research themes include globalisation, sustainable food production and consumption, digital society, and urban environmental management.
Besides professor at Wageningen University & Research, he was also professor of Environmental Policy at Renmin University in China, at Tsinghua University in China, at the National University of Malaysia UKM, and at Chiba University in Tokyo.
He holds various advisory board positions at European universities and university associations, research institutions, and policy advisory committees.
