Regulation of protein movement and tissue patterning
The Bird protein family interacts with SHR and SCR and Bird genes are regulated by SHORTROOT and SCARECROW transcriptional regulators. In a Systems Biology approach, we investigate how this tangled network leads to the precise patterning of asymmetic cell division.
Protein movement and interaction can be inferred from biochemical and genetic experiments, but the true challenge is to visualize these processes in a living cell. In a network of collaborations we are optimizing methods to allow dynamic analysis of protein interactions during pattern formation in plants.
