Translations
Our Translation & Text Editing department provides high-quality translations from and into all languages, offering you the benefits of many years of cooperation between Wageningen in'to Languages and Wageningen University & Research. Our native-language translators not only have excellent language skills, but they also have backgrounds in one or more specific fields, such as Agrofood & Life Sciences.
In addition to high-quality human translations, we also offer extra fast and affordable options at greatly reduced rates. For this purpose, we work with a paid licence for the secure translation engine DeepL Pro. Unlike free translation engines, with this secure translation environment you are assured that your text remains private and is not shared on the internet.

How does it work?
In our advanced translation software, we first pre-translate your text based on the WUR translation memory and terminology list to ensure consistency with previously translated texts and to guarantee specific WUR terminology. This pre-translated text is then automatically translated using the secure DeepL Pro translation engine and watermarked (“Machine translation”). This environment guarantees privacy and security. Following this process, no further linguistic content or formatting checks take place.
When is BASIC the right choice?
This form of translation is especially suitable for quickly understanding the overall content of the original text and for internal use where accuracy is not crucial.
Good to know
Since the translation is fully automatically generated, it may contain errors of interpretation, unnatural wording, inconsistencies, incorrect terminology, and/or differences in nuance. Cultural conventions and inclusive language may not be properly expressed in the translation. Formatting may differ from the source document, and embedded images with text or PDF files (possibly scanned) are usually not recognised or translated.
If the translation turns out not to be good enough after all, you can always have it reworked by a native language editor (see STANDARD) at an additional cost. Wageningen in'to Languages is not liable for any direct or indirect damage resulting from this approach. A BASIC translation falls outside the scope of ISO17100:2015.
How does it work?
For a STANDARD translation, we use the same procedure as for a BASIC translation, except that the secure machine translation is checked by a professional native language translator. The emphasis here is on linguistic correctness and readability.
When is STANDARD the right choice?
This type of translation is suitable for general texts, business communications, and functional content that requires a good balance between speed, quality, and cost.
Good to know
Although the text is post-edited by a professional translator, it may appear unnatural due to the automatically generated translation process. As a result, the translation may differ slightly from the source text in nuance, interpretation, or style, and technical terminology may not always be translated correctly.
It is not possible to retroactively upgrade from a STANDARD translation to a PREMIUM translation. So if you want to be sure of a completely correct translation, opt for PREMIUM straight away. Wageningen in'to Languages is not liable for any direct or indirect damage resulting from this approach. A STANDARD translation falls outside the scope of ISO17100:2015.

When is PREMIUM the right choice?
This translation is suitable for all types of texts, and especially for important, complex or sensitive documents such as policy documents, legal texts, publications, creative content, and confidential communications.
Good to know
The four-eye principle ensures a high-quality, professional translation. Nevertheless, an error may occur in exceptional cases.
Wageningen in'to Languages is not liable for any direct or indirect damage resulting from this approach. A PREMIUM translation meets the quality requirements of ISO17100:2015.
Be careful with free translation software
If a machine translation is all you need, you should always use paid translation software. If you use free translation software, you sacrifice ownership of your text to the company that owns the software (e.g. Google) and agree to sharing your text’s contents on the internet. This is usually not desirable or permitted, as it violates privacy and may allow sensitive information within the text to end up in the wrong hands.
Subtitling
Video content is becoming more and more important. You can quickly reach a large audience with promotional videos, knowledge clips, scientific documentaries, and corporate films. Subtitles are an important aspect of this because people tend to watch videos without sound.
Do you have a video with audio you want subtitled and/or translated? We can ensure that the audio is subtitled professionally. Thanks to our advanced subtitling software, you will receive a file you can use immediately.
Text editing
If you are looking to have your texts edited, you have come to the right place. We deliver clear and easy-to-read texts. Whether for a scientific article, a PhD thesis, an interview or web text, our native-language editors strive to get your message across as clearly as possible so you can address your target audience in the right way, whatever the language.
Interpreting services
Organising an international seminar or conference is a complex operation. The spin-off from such an event can be highly beneficial for your organisation. It is therefore very important that international guests also feel welcome and can actively participate in a discussion in their own language. An interpreter is an absolute must in such cases. An interpreter can also be indispensable when transferring your house. We provide professional interpreters who can translate to and from any language for any occasion, be it simultaneous, consecutive, or sign language interpreting. We also provide the necessary interpreting equipment if required.
Rates, delivery times and general terms and conditions
A number of factors are important when determining rates and delivery times for a translation:
• the language combination(s)
• the size of the text(s)
• the desired delivery time
• the service required (machine translation, with or without post-editing, human translation with revision, or sworn translation)
To provide you with a quote, we always first ask to see the text(s) you want translated, so that we can check whether the text(s) contain recurring passages or passages we translated for you before. In that case, you will receive a discount and the delivery time is shortened. If you need large volumes translated or have regular translation work, we can offer customised rates.
For all rates, WUR clients are exempted from paying VAT (21%).
