Compare the master's Nutrition and Health
The master's Nutrition and Health studies the relationship between food and health and how we can influence that. This is done from the perspectives of large groups, at individual level, or cellular and gene levels. What causes a disease, what facilitates a cure and what role does food play? All aspects of feeding humans are reviewed in this study programme: the choice of food, the manner by which it is consumed, the way the body processes food and the effect of food on our health. You are offered a choice of specialisations within Nutrition and Health: Epidemiology and Public Health, Nutritional Physiology and Health Status, Molecular Nutrition and Toxicology, Sensory Science, Nutritional Epidemiology and Public Health (Online Master's Specialisation), Food Digestion and Health and Systems Approach for Sustainable and Healthy Diets. You will graduate as a nutrition scientist upon completion of this two-year programme.

Compare the programme with other universities
Biomedical Sciences (University of Groningen, Radboud University Nijmegen, Leiden University, Utrecht University, University of Amsterdam en VU University of Amsterdam). These Biomedical Sciences study programmes also study the human body but focus on the underlying mechanisms of the disease and health. The focus of Nutrition and Health is on food. While Wageningen researchers also study diseases like AIDS, they will focus on eating patterns in order to improve the quality of life.
Health Sciences (Maastricht University, VU University Amsterdam, University of Twente and Erasmus University Rotterdam). Wageningen approaches research from a food perspective (nutrition and health) whereas these Health Sciences study programmes take diseases as their point of departure (with food being one of the health determinants).
Nutrition and Metabolism (Maastricht University). This master's study programme studies food and metabolism with a sole focus on research and research skills. Compared with Nutrition and Health, this programme offers less study tracks and aims solely on education for research jobs. At Wageningen University, more attention is placed on food and Nutrition and Health offers more study tracks allowing you to do to do more with the study programme upon graduation.
