Measurements on plants

The Laboratory of Genetics offers several courses embedded in BSc and MSc study programs at Wageningen University. Below is an overview of our courses.

The Laboratory of Genetics provides education across the full width of Genetics and Evolution, and focusses on the interrelationship between genetics, heredity and evolution, from basic level to advanced.

The Laboratory of Genetics provides courses within several BSc and Msc study programmes at Wageningen University, including Biology, Plant Sciences and Animal Sciences. We offer many possibilities for high-level thesis projects for BSC and MSc students.

Here you find information on our courses and on doing a BSc or MSc thesis or internship with us.

Ensure you have sufficient background to start a thesis project. Specific requirements (e.g. mandatory courses) will depend on the study program that you follow. If Genetics is not on the pre-approved list of Chair Groups of your study, a standard e-mail to the Exam Committee requesting for approval is required. Our Education Coordinator can advise you if needed.

In general, basic knowledge of genetics and molecular methods, such as taught in:

Fundamentals of Genetics and Molecular Biology GEN-11806
Molecular and Evolutionary Ecology GEN-20306
Genetic Analysis Trends and Concepts GEN-30306

is recommended before starting a Genetics thesis. Other routes are possible, if in doubt, please contact the supervisor of your intended project, or Marjan Kampinga.

At Wageningen University & Research, you work on improving the quality of life. That is our mission and that is what we stand for. We are constantly looking for talented colleagues who want to contribute with their expertise.

Through this link Internship, you can find plant research vacancies at Wageningen Plant Research and the Chair Groups of the Department of Plant Sciences.

For more information, contact the coordinator of the course directly (see Study Handbook) or Marjan Kampinga.
