Applications Lucie Timmermans Fund

The Lucie Timmermans Fund supports young researchers at Wageningen University & Research in the field of animal biology, including the specialisations: experimental zoology, animal cell biology, entomology and animal physiology. The fund offers support to make a study trip, to do an MSc thesis research project or internship abroad, or to write a project proposal for a PhD to attract funding. Preference is given to female applicants, or someone who is otherwise part of a group that is underrepresented in science.
Who is eligible
The fund provides support for two types of activities:
Travel grant
The travel grant of up to €2,500.- is intended for:
- an international networking trip to a foreign university or research institute;
- attending a conference;
- an MSc-thesis research abroad;
- an MSc-internship abroad, if your internship takes place at a university or a research institute.
In line with Lucie’s vision, the travel grant is primarily intended for female MSc students, recent MSc graduates, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers under the age of 35. Applicants who are not female but belong to groups traditionally underrepresented in science or who face social disadvantages are also welcome to apply. In such cases, please provide a clear motivation and explain the group or context you represent.
PhD proposal writing grant
MSc-researchers who are aiming for a PhD position and are writing a research proposal, can apply for a research grant. The fund awards the chosen projects with a maximum amount of €5.000,-. The grant is intended to increase the likelihood that your research proposal will be successfully funded by other funding organizations. Supported activities may include, for example, collecting pilot data to strengthen the proposal, or developing prototypes of your idea.
The research grant is aimed in the first place at female MSc graduates. If you are not female but part of an group underrepresented in science with a social disadvantage, please motivate your application and explain what type of group you are part of.
