Applications Neys-van Hoogstraten Fonds

The Neys - van Hoogstraten Fund promotes socioeconomic research with a gender lens on food security of households and nutritional security of vulnerable groups in a number of countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia.
Who is eligible
MSc students, PhD candidates, and postdocs from Wageningen University & Research can apply if their research meets the objectives of the fund. Preference is given to interdisciplinary research and research involving a research institute in the region. All research projects should take gender aspects into account.
Which costs are eligible
Eligible research costs include:
a) Researcher's costs: International travel costs to and from the research location; travel and accommodation costs in the country and location of the study.
b) Cost of data collection: travel costs, daily allowances and payment of interviewers, salary and travel costs of a local research assistant.
c) Cost of data analysis: costs of laboratory research, statistical support.
d) Supervision costs: Only for PhD research the travel and accommodation costs of a visit by the WUR supervisor/promoter to the research location during the research.
e) Costs of dissemination results: Upon successful completion of the research, the costs of a local seminar with the stakeholders, a possible contribution to the costs of a publication in an international scientific journal, and/or contribution to the costs of participating in an international conference in the context of presenting the results of the research.
f) The maximum support from the fund for MSc research is 6,000 euros, for PhD/postdoc research it is 25,000 euros.

How can I apply?
Fill in the application form below. Applications can be submitted throughout the year. Incoming applications are assessed once a month. Please submit your proposal at least one month before the start of your project.
Dissemination of results to local stakeholders is also a requirement. For this, a dissemination plan should be submitted alongside the research proposal.

University Fund Wageningen receives donations for the Neys- van Hoogstraten Fund from the Neys-Van Hoogstraten Foundation. The Neys-van Hoogstraten Foundation was founded in 1989 by the late Dr Karel Neys in honour of his parents. Dr Neys was born on February 17, 1920 in Klaten, Central Java, Indonesia. Most of his life Dr Neys worked in the field of development cooperation for the United Nations. In his last will he bequeathed his fortune to the Foundation. He passed away on March 3, 1992.
