Summary

This thesis explores new strategies to create chiral sulfur(VI)-based molecules, ranging from small molecules to precisely controlled molecular chains and polymers. A major goal was to control not only the order of the building blocks in these chains, but also their three-dimensional arrangement. New synthetic strategies were developed to build these structures step by step and to improve the efficiency of producing longer chains. In addition, several types of chiral sulfur(VI)-based Brønsted acids were synthesized as potential candidates for asymmetric catalysis.
