Business Management and Organisation

Business Management and Organisation studies how businesses contribute to a change towards sustainability at organisation, industry, and supply chain network levels, producing valuable and relevant knowledge further informing societal transitions. ‘Business’ includes for-profit (commercial), not-for-profit, and public organisations. Businesses often need to collaborate closely to contribute to societal transformation and be competitive. Our chair group is led by Ilona de Hooge (Ad Interim).

Education

Education by this Chair Group
Business Management and Organisation plays a pivotal role in the BSc programme Management and Consumer studies and the Sustainable Business & Innovation MSc programme (part of MME). With the chair group Education and Learning Sciences we are also the founders of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship minor and the Entrepreneurship master track. We teach a multitude of courses at both bachelor and master level, about marketing, circular economy, innovation, and many other topics.
Publications & Projects
Research projects of Business Management and Organisation are centred around improving sustainability and health at organisation, industry, supply chain network, and society level. Through these research projects, we produce and spread valuable and relevant knowledge to inform and support businesses and other organisations in their ambition to become more sustainable. We publish the results of our research on a regular basis.

Chair Holder
Ilona E. de Hooge is the ad interim chair holder of the Business Management and Organisation group. In general, her research centres around several interconnected topics, including emotions like shame, guilt, pride, gratitude, imperfections, food (waste), sustainability and climate change, consumer, marketing, business, and supply chain decision-making. Ilona has been awarded the Data & Insights Marketing Scientist of the Year 2024 Award.
