The Operations Research and Logistics group works on supply chain analysis and optimization for a sustainable and healthy food and living environment. Our research and education build on quantitative modelling and advanced analytics.
Research
Our research focuses on decision making in agrifood and bio-based supply chains. Central in our work is the increasing complexity and uncertainty, as well as the specific characteristics of this domain.
We support organisations in achieving robust performance, including trade-offs between costs, service, quality, risk, and the environment. We specifically focus on the areas of sustainability, resilience, and nutrition & health.
Education
Education by the Operations Research and Logistics group
We offer a diverse portfolio of courses followed by students across all programmes at Wageningen University. These include basic courses as well as follow-up courses with a focus on management, engineering, sustainability, or an integration of these perspectives. We also provide opportunities for students to engage more deeply with our field through bachelor’s and master’s theses, as well as internships, all supervised by our academic staff.
Publications & Projects
Our research projects range from the design of new supply chains to diet modelling, and we publish regularly on the interface of optimization, management, food science, and nutrition.
